How Does FitIris Work?
FitIrisuses an infrared sensor to capture high-quality images of the worker's eye, an invisible and unobtrusive process that allows it to detect characteristics in the eye directly linked to changes in the individual central nervous system (CNS) function. At a high level some of the key characteristics include:
• Pupil dilation
• Pupillary light reflex
• Saccadic eye movements (fast, involuntary eye movements)
These characteristics are involuntary and whilst attempts could be made to influence them, the characteristics cannot be controlled or manipulated, ensuring integrity of the eye data and ensuring that the subsequent assessment is an accurate reflection of their mental and cognitive state.
With the image and capture of the eyes characteristics, FitIris then uses proprietary machine learning (ML) to real-time analyse each individual’s eye data, and classifying their fitness for work risk level as:
• High Risk: Immediate intervention needed to avoid workplace incidents,
• Medium Risk: The individual may need a rest break or reassignment, or
• Low Risk: The individual is fully alert and fit for duty.
Using iris biometrics ensure that identity verification is accurately attributed, preventing impersonation, manipulation or fraudulent testing. Each individual’s iris pattern is unique and securely stored in the FitIris platform, guaranteeing that the right person is being tested at all times.
